Home Owners’ Association vs Community Association
What is the difference between the Home Owners’ Association (HOA) and the Community Association (CA)?
The Home Owners’ Association (HOA) is responsible for:
- Annual installation and maintenance of shrub beds and flower planters within Skyview Ranch
- Snow removal on pathways within Skyview Ranch (Some Paths may fall under City of Calgary Contracts, School Boards or the responsibility of a homeowner)
- Installation, repair and maintenance of community pageantry including the flag pole, etc.
- Repair and maintenance of landscaping for certain green spaces (Some areas fall under different City of Calgary Departments or school boards)
- The exterior wall of the community
- Clean-up of litter within Skyview Ranch, including supply of dog poop bags and dispensers throughout the community
- Enforcement of Architectural Guidelines registered against the Residential Lots and/or Condominium Units
- Contribution by way of loan or grant, funds to the Skyview Ranch Community Association to improve and enhance the Skyview Ranch community
The Community Association (CA) is responsible for:
- Organizing and promoting community activities, such as the basketball and soccer program
- Encouraging and enabling involvement of residents in issues which affect our community
- Representing the interests of the community in dealing with government and other organizations
- Contributions to the Skyview Cloud, a monthly newsletter to all residents in the community
- The City of Calgary invites our Community Association to make comments regarding any Planning applications and Development permit applications in our neighborhood
